Justcallmemiki (NZ) Continues Golden Run in WA
7 October 2025
Justcallmemiki (NZ) (Always B Miki) continued his golden run in Western Australia last week when winning the Listed Pinjarra 4YO Classic (2185m).
Drawing the ace marble, the four-year-old gelding was backed into a dominant $1.90 favourite by punters and he performed accordingly. The son of Always B Miki punched off the gate for driver Deni Roberts to maintain his advantage on the pegs, and he was never headed, running out a one length victor.
Bred by Alta Breeding Co Ltd, Justcallmemiki is out of Alchemist (NZ) (Mach Three), who raced as Famous Alchemist in Western Australia where she won the Group Three WASBA Breeders’ Stakes (1730m). She also placed in 11 stakes races on both sides of the Tasman, including the Group One Western Australia Mares Classic (2130m), Group One Sires’ Stakes 2YO Fillies Championship (1700m) and Group One Sires’ Stakes Fillies Championship (2200m).
Alchemist has left her ability in her progeny, also being the dam of Group One performer Alta Metoer (NZ) (Art Major) and Group Three winner Alta Louisa (NZ) (Art Major).
Justcallmemiki was offered through Alabar’s 2021 NZB Standardbred National Weanling Sale draft at Karaka where he was purchased by Team Bond for $20,000.
He remained in New Zealand for his education and early career under the care of Brent Mangos and subsequently Hayden Cullen, for whom he won four of his 12 starts before continuing his career across the Tasman for trainers Greg and Skye Bond.
Justcallmemiki is building an envious record in Western Australia, having now won six of his eight starts in the Golden State, including the Group Three Chandon 4YO Classic (2130m) in his Australian debut at Gloucester Park in February.
