320-Lot Catalogue Live for 2026 National Yearling Sale

A strong 320-lot catalogue has been assembled for NZB Standardbred’s 2026 National Yearling Sale held at Karaka and Canterbury Agricultural Park next summer. 

With 133 yearlings set to go under the hammer at Karaka on Monday 15 February and a further 186 in Christchurch on Wednesday 18 February, the quality catalogues feature a representation of leading sires from around the globe, with international pedigrees adding to the in-demand Kiwi product on offer.

The National Yearling Sale is responsible for an incredible 103 Group one wins plus 289 stakes race wins since 2020, highlighted by recent Group One-winning graduates such as Arafura (NZ) (Sweet Lou), Allamericanplayer (NZ) (Bettor’s Delight), Bet N Win (NZ) (What the Hill), Got the Chocolates (NZ) (Art Major), Marketplace (NZ) (Bettor’s Delight), Meant To Be (NZ) (Father Patrick), Republican Party (NZ) (Bettor’s Delight),  Mister Smartee (NZ) (Always B Miki) and more.

Buyers will have the opportunity to secure top-class yearlings from blue-blooded families, with several siblings to Group One winners, such as a full siblings to Freeze Frame (NZ) (Bettor’s Delight), Just Believe (Orlando Vici), Coastal Babe (NZ) (Downbytheseaside), Meant to Be (NZ), Millwood Nike (NZ) (Captaintreacherous), Jumal (NZ) (Downbytheseaside), Got the Chocolates (NZ) and half siblings to stars like Bet N Win (NZ), Ardie B Miki (NZ), Ardies Express (NZ), Akuta (NZ), Stella Rouge (NZ), and Mister Smartee (NZ) to name a few.

“We are pleased to offer another high calibre catalogue, represented by the best sires in the world,” commented NZB Standardbred Manager Cam Bray. 

Lot 70, was one of two colts that sold for $340,000 at the 2025 National Yearling Sale at Karaka.

“Our sale results continue to trend upwards, with two record $360,000 lots last year, and a 6% increase in turnover despite offering fewer yearlings.

“It is no secret New Zealand breed and produce the best of its kind statistically, seen over Cup Week with every age group race won by an NZB Standardbred graduate.”

“In addition, Australian and USA-bred yearlings feature in the 2026 catalogue, allowing buyers the opportunity to access families not available here before,” he added.

“The state of the racing is very positive with the current stake money, new vendors like the Pace Makers group entering the market and some great results at our recent Harness Million Raceday.”

All yearlings will be available for inspection during the on-farm parades, with all prospective buyers welcome to attend to get a head start on inspections and evaluations. NZB Standardbred and New Zealand-based agents and trainers will be available to inspect on behalf of prior to the Sale and on the grounds at the Karaka Sales Centre and Canterbury Agricultural Park. All yearlings purchased at the 2026 National Yearling Sale are eligible for the lucrative $1 million Harness Million Sale Race Series for graduates, consisting of principal two-year-old and three-year-old races for colts and geldings, fillies and trotters individually, plus opportunities for four-year-old and older horses.
